Sometimes, the significance transcends the game of hockey. In a heartfelt tribute, players from both the Cottage Grove Hockey Association Bantam A and AV/ Burnsville Hockey Association took to the ice wearing decals bearing the emblems of Burnsville Police and Fire departments to honor the lives lost in Sunday's tragic act of violence against Burnsville's first responders.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of Burnsville Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, as well as firefighter-paramedic Adam Finseth, who tragically lost their lives while responding to a domestic disturbance. Our heartfelt condolences also go out to the family of Sgt. Adam Medlicott, who was injured in the incident but is now recuperating at home. These courageous individuals made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and our thoughts are with all those affected by this devastating event.

In addition to both teams donning decals, a moment of silence was observed before the puck drop tonight. Perhaps it was a twist of fate, but AV/Burnsville Bantam A emerged victorious with a final score of 3-0.

Special very thanks to Print Lab Wraps for their support and all hands on deck for quick turnaround today to make this possible.
