Parents Code of Conduct Policy

The following Code of Conduct will be in effect for all CGHA-sponsored events, including games, practices, scrimmages, team meetings or any other CGHA events - on and off the ice.

  • Maintain self-control and exemplify good sportsmanship, refraining from public criticism of officials, coaches, parents and players. 
  • Support your coaches. Remember that they have many players for whom they are responsible.
  • • Leave the "coaching" to the coach and keep negative comments to yourself. 
  • Don't compare your child with other players.
  • Be honest with yourself about his/her capabilities. 
  • Compliment and encourage each player on the team. 
  • Teach your child to have fun and enjoy competition. Don't tell him/her that winning does not count because it does and he/she knows it. Instead, help him/her to develop a healthy competitive attitude towards winning and losing. 
  • Arrange transportation to and from games, practices, scrimmages and tournaments. 
  • Remember that you, as well as your team, represent our community. 
  • Take care of your financial responsibilities to CGHA promptly. 
  • Remember the locker room is for the players and coaches, respect team rules regarding access. 
  • Support the philosophies and policies of CGHA. 
  • Attend board meetings - - provide feedback and build your understanding of the association’s activities.

The Parent's rights:

  • Having their player and themselves treated fairly and with respect. 
  • Have the player engaged in playing and practicing activities that increase his/her skill and enjoyment of the sport in a safe and healthy environment. 
  • Have the right to communicate directly with anyone associated with the Club (coaches, board, etc.) utilizing the following steps: 
    • • 1st Step) Allow a one-day “cooling off” period from the time of the incident before talking to the coach. 
    • • 2nd Step) will be informing the appropriate Level Director.  If not satisfactory,
    • • 3rd Step) is to contact the Vice President.  If not satisfactory,
    • • 4th Step) is to contact the President. I agree to follow these principles, as well as the CGHA Handbook, as a parent/spectator of any CGHA or competitive team. Consistent action deviating from these values, or which disrupt the teams’ ability to function, other players’ ability to learn, the coaches’ ability to teach, representation of the CGHA in other cities will not be tolerated.

PLEASE NOTE: Based on the seriousness of the offense, the Board holds the right to take further action, including immediate suspension and/or permanent dismissal from CGHA activities.

  • 1st Offense: I agree that I may be excused from participating at the next proceeding game by the Level Director and the CGHA Board of Directors may be informed of my actions. Based on the seriousness, the Board may take further actions. 2nd Offense: Upon the
  • 2nd Offense in the same season, the CGHA Board will be notified. The Board, consisting of the President, and two additional board members (President’s choice), will conduct a hearing with the parent(s) and Level Director. Discipline consistent with the violation may be given, as well as placement on probation.
  • 3rd Offense: Suspension from all team activities for the remainder of the season, following another Conduct review Board hearing.
